A message from AOH NY State President John Manning

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Father Brendan Fitzgerald as AOH NY State Chaplain.

Fr. Fitzgerald was born in Rockaway, NY, the son of Irish immigrants from County Kerry. He attended Maynooth Seminary in Kildare and in his pastoral year, he served St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta. He was ordained in 2000 in Limerick and after serving for five years as a priest in Ireland, he returned to the U.S. in 2006.

He is currently the pastor of St. Barnabas Church (Bronx, NY) a strong Irish-American parish in the Woodlawn-McLean Avenue area, and also serves as the Dean of the North East Bronx at the appointment of Cardinal Timothy Dolan. A fan of Gaelic games, he serves as Chaplain of the NY GAA and AOH Bronx Division 5.

For several years, Fr. Fitzgerald has been the main celebrant for the annual Bronx AOH Irish language Mass where he celebrates the Mass in Gaelic. The Mass is a national AOH event viewed online by thousands of people across the United States and in Ireland.

Please join me in welcoming Fr. Fitzgerald as our new Chaplain.
