Hibernians are pro-life
The Archbishop of San Francisco, Salvatore Cordileone stated, “…no one can claim to be a devout Catholic and condone the killing of innocent human life, let alone have the government pay for it. The right to life is a fundamental – the most fundamental – human right, and Catholics do not oppose fundamental human rights. To use the smokescreen of abortion as an issue of health and fairness to poor women is the epitome of hypocrisy.”
We as Irish-American Catholics need to unite against the evils of abortion, euthanasia and in general the ‘culture of death’ prevalent in our society today. As Nellie Gray, the founder of the March for Life in 1974 in Washington, DC stated, “If everybody doesn’t have a right to life, then nobody has a right to life.” Nellie devoted 40 years to the cause for life.
The 48th March for Life will be held in Washington, DC on January 21, 2022. It would be great to have the largest delegations of Hibernians from around the country marching for life on that day.
A Right to Life Mass will be held in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City on October 3, 2021, please make an effort to attend (as Cardinal O’Connor once told us, “I don’t want to see a half empty church.”)
