NYS AOH Inaugural Dart Tournament

Mission: To generate revenue for the Honorable Thomas D. McNabb Sports Scholarship.

How: Think NCAA MarchMadness. 601, Fly in dart to start, double out to win. Best two of three matches. Think NCAA Elite Eight. A Team first advances in their State AOH District. The eight AOH District Directors oversee all aspects of the competition.

Who: A Team of five players, any gender, at least one member of the Team must be an AOH or LAOH member. The local Division “sponsors” the Team(s). Each player submits $10 for the Tournament, collected by the AOH District Director. If there is a need to make a substitution in the rounds beyond the first, annotate name, ensure one member of the Team is still an AOH/LAOH member. A picture of the team application with names is essential. We might even set up zoom to record the shoot outs, especially the quarter finals. When: Throughout the month of November. Elite Eight scheduled in December. District One against District Eight. Division Two against District Seven. District Three against District Four. Then, by draw, the Final Four Teams, and Championship Two Teams are charted up. The Tournament is to be completed by December 15, 2022. Place and time TBD.

Where: Initial rounds, anywhere that has a bonafide English dart board; Local saloon or a Hibernian Hall; or someone’s basement. Elite Eight and Final Four locations dependent on the eight final teams.

Process: Staff a team of five players. Provide the names, phone numbers, and emails of the shooters to the District Director. District Director sets up competition, based on Team entry submission date having first seed, etc. Hibernian Applications are to be in abundance at each shoot-off. All revenue flows from the District Director to Sports Chair, Dave Cummings, to Tom Beirne for recording, and then to Kevin O’Reilly to deposit
